Petra Rau
THE ARTIST:
Petra Rau was born in Schweinfurt, Germany, 1961.

Her work is born out of the necessity to express emotion, thoughts and feelings. She constantly experiments with both new and traditional materials. Mixing her own paints, she has used natural materials including henna, tea and coffee; she also uses natural and artificial food colourings as well as plant-, earth- and mineral-pigments, clays, gesso, and cement and more traditional materials such as shellac, inks and charcoal. She prefers not to use oil paints or acrylics.
